Bases
Bases at Lazer Gate are used to allow players to score points from the arena as well as from opposing players. Typical use is as follows:
In Solo and Team games the bases will be set to 3 different colors (typically Red, Blue and Green). Each base will be able to be "destroyed" by each player ONE time. The correct way to "destroy" a base is to tag it three times, the place to tag is the line of LED lights that you see in the picture. The center of the base is just a speaker, so go for the edges rather than the center. The resets every time you tag it, so the tags need to be a second or so apart. Watch the base when you tag it the first time and you'll notice lights that go off. Once they come back on you can tag it a second time, then a third at which point, the base is yours! Be warned, the arena will sound off when you are tagging a base, so you may attract some defenders looking to spoil your work. Also, be careful when base hunting with teammates, the base will ONLY be destroyed if the SAME player tags it three times in a row. So if your over eager friend takes a shot at the base while you are working on it, it will reset your progress and you'll have to start again! Oh, and every time you tag a base you LOOSE points! This is made up for when you destroy the base of course, but it's just another reason to work together rather than against each other in team games. In Solo games... all bets are off. Anyone can ruin your progress, so play smart and tag anyone that comes next to you or the base.
Point values will vary depending on the game being played. Some of the special games do NOT use bases, ask your Game Marshal if you're not sure, but they will include bases in the briefing if they will be included in the game.
In solo or team games, unless otherwise told, it does not matter what color you are as far as the base is concerned. Each player will be able to destroy each base 1 time each. Again, ask your Game Marshal if you have any questions.
